Tết Greeting from Senator Thanh Hai Ngo I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to all those in Vancouver celebrating the 2015 Lunar New Year, as we bid farewell to the Year of the Horse and welcome the Year of the Goat! Tết provides an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect on the tremendous contributions that members of the Vietnamese community have made to this country’s rich and diverse heritage. Since our arrival we have proudly raised freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. This year is an even bigger celebration as we mark the 40th anniversary of the fall of the free and democratic Vietnam; we thank Canada for opening its arms to us. As my bill S219 emphasis our Journey to Freedom here in Canada is a tremendous honour as we are all now part of the Canadian fabric, where freedom and democracy prevails. I thank the Vietnamese Canadian Community in Greater Vancouver Societyfor your important work in organizing this jubilant celebration and once again offer everyone my best wishes for good luck, happiness and prosperity in the coming year.
